Background Information: Public Chapter 905, effective May 9, 2012, provides that the director’s evaluation shall address job performance, student achievement, relationships with staff and personnel, relationships with board members, and relationships with the community. To this end, TSBA’s recommended policy adds the appropriate language to our current policy. On September 6, 2011, the Board and Director agreed to a modified evaluation instrument for which I believe does address these areas. If the Board does not believe the instrument addresses these areas, another evaluation instrument can be discussed.
Staff Recommendation: I recommend approval of the above-noted amendment to Board Policy #5.803 – Evaluation of the Director of Schools, on first reading. |
